10 DAYS DARK TOURISM TRIP IN RWANDA
During your 10days dark tourism in Rwanda with Loyal Tours and Safaris, you are going to get enough information associated with the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi. Rwanda put in place memorial sites as a result of the 1994 Genocide against Tutsis where more than one million Tutsis were killed within 100 days. Memorial sites are places of remembrance and learning. During these 10 days, you will also visit the Agahozo Shalom youth village which houses orphaned youth and empowers orphaned and vulnerable rwandan youth to build lives of dignity and contribute to a better world. The trip also includes a visit to Bugesera reconciliation center and the Camp Kigali Belgian Monument.
Day1: Arrival at Kigali International Airport
Upon arrival at Kigali international airport, you will go through immigration, you will be met by Loyal Tours & Safaris guide who will warmly welcome you and drive to your booked hotel for dinner and overnight stay. Day2: Kigali Genocide memorial site and Camp Kigali Belgian Monument
Inaugurated in 2004, the Kigali Genocide Memorial at Gisozi is the final resting place for more than 250,000 victims of the Genocide against the Tutsi. This memorial also serves to educate about how the Genocide against the Tutsi took shape and examines genocide in the 20th century. The Camp Kigali Belgian Monument is a small museum lying at the site of the massacre of ten Belgian UN Blue Beret. At the onset of Genocide under the command of General Dallaire, they were deployed to guard the house of Prime Minister Agatha Uwilingimana and when the genocide began, Presidential Guard soldiers invaded the home, disarmed the Belgians and transported them to Camp Kigali where they killed them.

Day3: Nyanza Genocide memorial to Nyamata Genocide memorial
This Genocide Memorial narrates the history Of Nyanza Kicukiro and particularly reminds us about the international community failure towards Genocide Prevention. The Nyanza Genocide Memorial sits at the site where 2000 Tutsis, including 400 children, were slaughtered by Hutu militants. After the visit to Nyanza Genocide Memorial we will head to Nyamata Genocide memorial which was desacralized by the Roman Catholic Church on 11th April 1997 and transformed into a memorial to the victims of the genocide.

Day4: Kigali to Nyarubuye memorial and Agahozo-Shalom youth village
The Nyarubuye memorial site located near the border with Tanzania has a small exhibition that describes how the genocide was committed, the weapons used and how the attack was conducted. In just two days, more than 35,000 Tutsis were killed. After the visit to this site we will be back to Kigali passing through Agahozo Shalom youth village which houses orphaned youth and empowers orphaned and vulnerable rwandan youth.

Day5: Kigali to Kibeho genocide memorial site
The Kibeho Genocide Memorial was created on 13th April 1998. Together, the Catholic Church, genocide survivors, and local administrative authorities agreed to divide the church building into two parts: one side to continue being used by Christians for celebrating mass; the other serving as a genocide memorial 28,937 victims who were killed at Kibeho.

Day6: Huye to Murambi genocide memorial site
Murambi contains the remains of approximately 50,000 victims killed at the technical school, including some remains exhumed from the surrounding area. Day7: Bisesero Genocide site
Located in Kibuye, where over 40,000 people were murdered with sticks and stones in unlawful circumstances since they had tried to resist their raiders by running to the French troops seeking defense, though unfortunately, the troops had no authority to interfere, so they withdrew, leaving the Tutsi at Bisesero hence their massive deaths in 1994 Genocide. Some state that French troops where among killers. Overnight stay in Karongi at Moriah Hill Hotel.
Day8: Karongi to Kigali via Kabgayi Memorial site
From Karongi town to Kigali, we will pass through Muhanga town in the southern part of Rwanda and head to Kabgayi memorial site. Upon arrival, visitors are greeted by a tranquil atmosphere, filled with lush greenery that contrasts sharply with the painful history represented here. Day9: Kigali to Ntarama memorial and Bugesera reconciliation center.
The Church of Ntarama was converted into a genocide memorial on 14th April 1995 and is dedicated to the 5,000 people who lost their lives there. One of Rwanda’s National Genocide Memorial Sites, Ntarama contains human remains, clothing, and artifacts belonging to those who were killed at the church, which remain on display at all times. After the visit to Ntarama, we will head to Bugesera Reconciliation center where survivors of the genocide coexist with repentant ex-‘perpetrators’ of the genocide.

Day10: Hotel to Kigali International Airport
